COVID-19

Well can I call it breaking news, or staled news because another person; a female in her early 30's was tested positive to coronavirus. She came in from the UK and decided to keep the 14 days quarantine measure to prevent the spread of the virus. When she discovered symptoms of the virus, she called the emergency department and she had been taken to mainland hospital in Yaba Lagos state where she is undergoing treatment. She is the third person in Nigeria testing positive to colonavirus.

China where the disease was first discovered is becoming free from it because of the measure used in tackling it. They called it the Draconian measure. They sealed the city where it was believe to have originated.
Chongqing, Yang's hometown bordering Hubei, has had more than 500 confirmed cases since the disease started to spill into the municipality. But now, there have been no cases in the city for several days.
The slowdown is not only in Chongqing. Across the country, 13 out of 34 provinces in China have cleared their remaining cases, and approximately 69,000 of 81,000 confirmed cases have been discharged. (aljazeera).

Coronaviruses are a family of virus that causes illness in animals and humans.  In humans, it majorly causes respiratory disease like cold, to severe Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS). COVID-19 is an infectious disease caused by coronavirus. It was not discovered until late last year, December 2019 in Wuhan China. But we could see that with proper measure, the spread had been contained in China. We have more cases of the disease overseas compared to China now. The major symptom of COVID-19 is fever, tiredness, and dry cough. Some patient have running nose, aches and pain, nasal congestion, sore throat or diarrhea. Most persons about (80%) develop this disease and recover from it without special treatment and some develop severe respiratory diseases and die of it.

Many perish for lack of knowledge. The disease is deadly nevertheless, we still do not have prove that it is airborne. It is transmitted when an individual comes in contact with the respiratory droplet of a COVID-19 patent. When droplet from the mouth or nose of someone with the disease comes in contact with an individual either directly or indirectly (i.e. an object like a stairs grill or piece of cloth), one could be infected with the diseases. So avoid whoever is coughing or sneezing.

One could reduce the chances of being affected by this virus by proper hygiene. Hygiene like washing of hands properly with Soap and clean water. Using alcoholic based hand sanitizers to  rub ones hands to help kill the viruses on the hand. Give a distance say 1 meter between those coughing or sneezing. Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth of anything, including human or animals. Covering ones nose and mouth when sneezing or coughing with the elbow or tissue which should be disposed properly in a waste bin.

Please to avoid the spread, please stay at home if you feel any of the symptom mentioned above. If you feel fever, slight headache or even running nose or cough, stay at home. This time I believe bosses should learn to give sick leaves to staffs for proper medical attention to avoid the spread of the disease.

If you travel and stay in countries with the spread of this disease for at least 14 days, please abide by the preventive measures of the country by self isolating one selves in your house for at least 14 days. If one notice any unusual symptom of the disease, there is a hotline to call and one would be given medical attention. If China where this disease was discovered could have great success in checking the disease, we could also prevent it if we keep simple respiratory hygiene and  abide by the health information in preventing the spread of this disease. We escaped Ebola in Nigeria, we shall also escape Coronaviruses.

Please don't forget to read the disclaimer of this blog. Notice we already discussed Palm wine and Measles and we establish some thought from it that is similar to that of Coronavirus. We don't have Measles vaccine and we have establish the fact that 80% recovers without any special treatment like we saw in the Measles post (Measles is also a respiratory disease that is also communicable like COVID-19). Could Palm wine be a TCM remedy to Coronavirus?

PrEP vs. Other HIV Prevention Strategies: Education, Condom Use, and Behavioral Choices

While Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) is a highly effective pharmaceutical approach to preventing HIV, it is important to recognize that there are other methods of prevention that can work in tandem or serve as alternatives. These include education, consistent condom use, monogamy, avoiding unprotected sex, and abstinence. Each method has its own benefits and drawbacks, and understanding how they compare can help individuals make more informed choices about their sexual health.   1. Education and Awareness: The Foundation of Prevention Education plays a critical role in preventing the spread of HIV. Knowledge about how HIV is transmitted, the risks of unprotected sex, and the importance of using preventive measures like condoms can significantly reduce the likelihood of infection. Programs that focus on safe sexual practices —including correct condom use, understanding HIV status, and avoiding high-risk behaviors—are essential components of a comprehensive HIV prevention strategy. ...

The Benefits of False Unicorn Root for Enhanced Reproductive Health

Maternal mortality remains a critical public health issue in Nigeria, where thousands of women lose their lives during childbirth due to preventable complications. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), Nigeria accounts for nearly 20% of global maternal deaths, with an estimated 512 maternal deaths per 100,000 live births as of recent reports.
